A trip to Viikinsaari

Finland has thousands of lakes and islands. Tampere, an inland city, is located between the lakes Näsijärvi and Pyhäjärvi.

Viikinsaari is a small island belonging to the city of Tampere and is located in Pyhäjärvi. It's a summer recreation island about 20 minutes away from the city center by boat.

One of the privileges we have at TAKK: a sponsored trip to Viikinsaari! Well, we paid 5 euros, but I think it was still a good treat.

We went to Viikinsaari the day before Midsummer's Eve. Luckily, the weather was good–sunny and cool–unlike the previous days, which were sunless, windy, and sometimes wet. The boat trip didn't amaze me that much though because I couldn't help compare it with the boat trips I had in the Philippines. Nevertheless, it was of course interesting to see Tampere from a different perspective, and I did see some nice views while on the boat.

Part of Viikinsaari is a peaceful nature reserve.
What I enjoyed most was the little nature trip on the island.
